Skyrim:At the Summit of Apocrypha
Unlock the remaining words of the Bend with dragon souls, then shout and read the Black Book Waking Dreams to be transported to Apocrypha, Hermaeus Mora’s plane of Oblivion. Walk down the path and up the staircase to a pedestal where Chapter II is located.
If you make enough noise, you can draw the attention of enemies far above you; if you need to leave combat, simply sneak until they stop looking for you. A copy of the Smithing skill book Heavy Armor Forging is on a table at the top of the stairs.
If you activate the scrye in this room, a door to the north will open, revealing a vessel. Kill the seeker and traverse the narrow walkways to pick up the book Prying Orbs. Once you have the book, the gate will open, allowing you to proceed.
When you walk into either hallway, it will compress and summon a group of seekers; eliminate the seekers and walk down the stairs to either side; once you’ve discovered that both hallways are dead ends, turn around and you’ll see a hallway that wasn’t there before.
Place the four books collected in the previous Chapters on the appropriate pedestals: Boneless Limbs, Delving Pincers, Prying Orbs, and Gnashing Blades. The hallway will lead you to a large open room with a pillar emitting a green light. Surrounding the central pillar are four pedestals with inscriptions.
Kill the two seekers and proceed to the word wall, which teaches a word for the Dragon Aspect shout. Sahrotaar, a serpentine dragon, will attack you; however, you must tame it using Bend Will. The final key to Miraak’s escape is your soul, which he requires to return to Solstheim.
You can return to Apocrypha and change the skill trees whenever you want by reading the Black Book Waking Dreams, and completing this quest also cleanses the Tree Stone, giving you access to its power. Neloth will check that you have no signs of Hermaeus Mora’s permanent influence.
If reloading a save from before the battle begins doesn’t work, try hiding behind a large column of books. Do not move around or otherwise try to engage him during the pauses. One cause of this bug could be that any of the dragons are stuck in flight and will refuse to engage you.
Miraak may not absorb dragon souls, leaving him unable to heal himself and thus permanently ethereal during the fight as you steal all of his dragon souls. Sahrotaar may not appear on the platform before you are supposed to use the Bend Will shout on him. If you become fully hidden in sneak mode, Miraak will emerge from his ethereal state and continue the fight.
