There is no telepathy between Thomas and Teresa in The Scorch Trials, despite the fact that they were supposed to be able to communicate telepathically in the first film.

WCKD wakes up to find their rescuers from the first book dead in the book; however, the rescuers are revealed to be members of WCKd’s own group, the Gladers, in the movie.

Aris and Rachel, like Thomas and Teresa, are supposed to have a special telepathic bond. Rachel appears only briefly in the film; she’s one of the people WCKD is trying to harvest a cure from, but she was killed in the maze trials.

As part of their next trial, Thomas and the others must travel through the Scorch, as depicted in the book.
6. The gladers aren’t infected with the Flare.
The gladers are infected with the Flare in the book, but not in the movie; instead, they’re healthy and immune to the Flare (at least most of them), and the good news is that a cure for the Flare awaits them at the end of this phase.

The group of people who escape from WCKD in the movie is made up of seven people; however, in the book, they are a much larger group.

Jorge is supposed to be a jerk in the book, but in the movie, he’s completely healthy and dedicated to preventing Brenda from contracting the Flare. Plus, Jorge lives in a community that isn’t the same as the one in the book.
14. Jorge and Brenda help the gladers escape.
In the book, Jorge and Brenda assist everyone in escaping and then blow up their shelter, which was a major plot point. In the film, one of the men in Jorge’s community contacts WCKD in the hopes of selling the gladers back to them.
